About Us

The idea to build Diagrams dates back to 2011. At that time, Lukáš was getting into software development and found great value in describing software systems and their components using visual diagrams. He looked for a diagram editor that would support him when developing software on his MacBook, but none of the existing tools suited his needs, as they were either primarily focused on graphical design or bloated with overwhelming complexity. He thought the Mac platform deserved a more focused and approachable diagram editor, so he decided to build one himself.

In 2017, after becoming familiar with macOS development and building several prototypes, he founded a company together with his partner, Ronald, and kicked off the work on Diagrams. This ultimately led to a successful launch of the initial version in early 2020. Since then, the team behind Diagrams has been fulfilling the mission of pushing diagramming on the Mac forward.

Diagrams is a product of Structured Path, a remote-first company based in Germany, and while the core team consists only of the two founders, a handful of professionals from the app developer community collaborate on the app, offering support in their areas of expertise.
